How do I report my former employer who created a hostile environment?

I recently quit my job at a local tax accounting firm. I left due to my boss making me feel uncomfortable. She would often make me feel minimized and even mocked me at times. One time she asked me who I voted for president, and when I gave my answer she laughed at me in front of the whole office. I was the only one of differing political views in the office so this made me very uncomfortable. Another time she spoke to me about how she does not respect those who transition from one sex to another, and that “that is a battle they will never win.” I feel that I should do something to report this hostile environment but I am not sure what, if I can do anything.

I’m sorry to hear about your experience at the tax accounting firm. Have you documented any of these incidents with your boss?

Did you report these incidents to HR or any other higher-ups in the company?

The only higher-up in the company is the owner, and I did not feel comfortable reporting considering the small size of the office (6 people total including me).

Is there anything else the employment lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured, they’ll be able to help with your hostile work environment.

No.
