I lost my job in Washington State due to retaliation and discrimination, including five years of denied promotions stemming from my refusal to relocate due to safety concerns. I also endured a hostile work environment with verbal abuse and consistent, significant delays (2-5 hours) in my work relief times, which I have witnesses to. While I won my initial case, my former employer is now appealing that decision, and my appeal hearing is set for July 1st. I am seeking legal advice regarding this appeal.

I have a business in Washington state and I have an employee who keeps calling out sick. He has called out for two weeks straight, but we don’t have enough employees to cover him that long. I know I can’t fire him because he does have a valid doctor’s note, but I had to hire someone because I don’t know how much longer he will continue to call out for. Are there any laws regarding that?

Are there any laws restricting employers from changing the parameters of your existing job to absorb another? I have worked for a company for 13 years. My current position is Office Manager and I manage our Receptionist/Admin Assistant position. Just this week, I was called by HR and informed that they offered a position to the employee I manage—and that they plan to have my role absorb the front desk/Admin position. This means my current hybrid role will now require me to man the front desk and work in the office 5 days a week. Are there any laws restricting employers from changing the parameters of your existing job to absorb another?
