[NY] [NY] I got suspended with base pay for reporting harassment I endured at work. What can I do?
I’m so sorry that they are doing this to you. It sounds like you may have been singled out or retaliated against after reporting harassment — which is illegal under federal and New York law. (Title VII of the Civil Rights)
I strongly recommend filing with the EEOC and consulting a lawyer to explore a retaliation or hostile work environment lawsuit. You can file a claim with the EEOC and allege discrimination or retaliation.
You can also find an employment lawyer for a referral.

Is there anything else the employment lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured they’ll be able to help with your situation.
No.

Thank you for providing the necessary information. Before proceeding, could you please let me know which state you are in? This will help ensure that the advice is tailored to the specific laws and regulations applicable in your jurisdiction.
New York.
I’m currently suspended with base pay for reporting harassment I endured at work. I’m currently in therapy because of the issue. This is mental anguish.

How long can an employer suspend you?
Barrister
An employer can suspend you pending an investigation, but there’s no set legal time limit in most states, including New York. However, if the suspension becomes indefinite or feels like punishment for reporting misconduct, you may be able to claim constructive termination and apply for unemployment insurance (UI) benefits.
Check whether you can draw UI since the employer may be violating your rights by keeping you in limbo without resolution.
