I am an 18-year-old female who wants to change my last name. My birth certificate in El Paso County, Texas, originally listed another man as my father. My real father gained custody of me when I was 4, and a DNA paternity test was taken, stating positive. I have had a birth certificate with the original name for the past 18 years, but now I want to get a driver’s license and need to change the last name on my birth certificate.

So my mom is placed on hospice and cannot make decisions for herself. My dad is her husband, legally married, but he wants to sign me power of attorney to be able to help with all the financial stuff. Who do I put as first on the paperwork, my dad or my mom?

My ex-husband is an addict (alcohol and drugs), cannot hold a job and cannot hold up his end of visitation. It is supposed to be 50/50, but he was only seeing them about 4 hours a week, on Sunday. In June, he brought them home so drunk that he could hardly walk and they haven’t seen him since.

Hi, I am fighting custody with my baby’s father and I’d like to know what type of documents I need to present in court to win custody.

Hello! I will be traveling to Kenya earlier than my daughter and mother. I’ve already provided my mother a signed minor consent form that includes my mother and daughter’s passport information along with my daughter’s birthdate. I’ve also provided my mother with a picture of my passport to be printed with the minor travel consent form. Does the form need to be notarized, or would this be enough for my daughter to travel with my mother to Kenya two weeks after I travel there?

I’m in Beaumont, TX and have a two-year-old. I have no custody plan in place. Her dad has been inconsistent, has not financially supported her, is mentally unstable, and has had some scary moments around me and my daughter. I’m on a limited budget and want to do the best for her while looking out for money as well. I think I need to file a SAPCR, but I haven’t gone to the Attorney General because I’m afraid of what the outcome with her dad would look like. I just need advice.
