[CA] How do I evict a tenant for non-payment of rent in California?

My tenant has been in an active mental health crisis where she is delusional about everything, and she has not paid the rent. She previously told me she’d move out on May 1st. Since she hasn’t been home for a week and hasn't paid rent, how do I evict her? She had a six-month lease, and it's no longer valid.

  3. Fill out and file the eviction complaint/petition.
  4. Serve the documents on your tenant officially.
  5. A judge will schedule a hearing to determine whether eviction is appropriate.
