My ex-girlfriend is living in my residence and refusing to leave unless I take legal action. I'm following the proper legal process by issuing a notice to quit. We don’t have a written lease—she was never supposed to stay. I moved to Maine for a new job a month ago, and the plan was for her and our kids to come with me, then sell the house. The first week here, she told me she wasn’t moving and has since stopped paying any bills or contributing to the mortgage. Since we don’t have a lease agreement, what should I put for the “lease start date” on the notice to quit? Also, the residence, which is in Massachusetts, is still my mailing address and has most of my possessions. The “tenant” unplugged my security cameras and has been bringing unknown guests to the house without my knowledge or consent. Is there anything I can do about this during the eviction process?
