My insurance adjuster indicated that they intend to offer something around $70k, with my coverage being $100k. But this will absolutely affect my insurance for several years. How can they do that? This was determined to be an equal fault accident and the other party is injured, not me. The adjuster also told me that they typically offer low and negotiate, but if the other party chooses to reject that offer, I might be liable to pay the difference between what they offer ($70k) and what they are demanding ($100k) out of my own pocket. Even though my coverage goes to $100k. I’m like, that’s a lot of money! Why would I have to pay this? She said, “To keep yourself out of court.”

I live in Portland, Oregon. I hired a contractor to perform work, which was completed. After completion, it came to my attention that needed permits may not have been gathered ahead of the project, and in doing so the project was much more expensive than it would have been otherwise if the guidelines were followed. What recourse do I have in getting the contractor to bring the project into compliance with the relevant city codes?

I live in Oregon, and have a mediated Residential Eviction agreement. The move out date is pending, however I would like to schedule a hearing to extend due to my current inability to secure housing. What recourse do I have. At mediation I provided the owner with all funds owed, and I am willing to pay this months rent, and any late fees owed to give me more time to find another residence.

Under New Jersey’s relocation statute (N.J.S.A. 9:2-2), how will the court evaluate my request to move my minor son and me from my rent-free, stable residence at his maternal grandparents’ home in Mount Laurel—where I serve as his sole daily caregiver, work steadily, maintain savings and school continuity, and benefit from an established local support network—against the proposed relocation to California, where we would gain a larger extended-family support system and new employment opportunities but sacrifice Gideon’s existing schooling and childcare stability?

I'm a neurosurgeon wondering if there's anything I can do to protect my assets from lawsuits? I frequently work on metastatic lesions and am wondering if there's anything I could do to protect my home equity, retirement account, etc. from a potential future malpractice claim which exceeds the malpractice insurance I'm covered by.

I am the coauther of a book. There are four other authors. The book will be published and released soon. We have a clear royalties agreement, but we don't have an agreement about our individual rights beyond royalties. I want to market and sell my coaching, speaking, and workshop services using the book independently. I don't want to have to ask permission from the other authors, nor do I want to be financially bound or accountable to them for work I do independently. How can I do this legally?
