How do I go about a name change? I’m not good with legal stuff.

Thank you. Everything you need to do this, you can find on the New York Unified Court System website. You'll need a name change petition, proposed order, birth certificate, and a court fee (New York Consolidated Laws, Civil Rights Law - CVR § 61). You'll have to sign the name change petition in front of a notary public. You should be able to do this without an attorney. Please let me know if you need more information.
