Can I file a lawsuit over a verbal business arrangement?
I understand. You didn’t have a new, agreed-upon contract requiring that new vehicle.
Unfortunately, I don’t think there is a strong basis for a suit. There’s no signed contract or agreement promising you the business. There were no set terms — everything was still being negotiated.

I would like to know if I have a case in a particular legal battle.

I understand you're looking for legal advice. Can you please provide more details about the situation?
A company and I have been partners for over three years. They’re in the process of moving and upsizing, so they approached me in a forcible way and demanded I get a bigger vehicle or else be replaced. I secured a bigger vehicle and told them the new price. They didn’t respond, but once I had the vehicle, they tried to lowball me using rates from three other companies. I told them they can’t compare like that — they don’t have the volume, and it wouldn’t work financially. I had a meeting with the branch manager. She said she couldn’t control inventory or employee pricing, but she could control shipping costs. She agreed to work on a set rate for my two vehicles and service. Then, three days later, after the close of business, she called and said she couldn’t come up with a rate and wanted to go cheaper. That forced me out, and now I’m left with a $3,587.50 investment for a larger vehicle.

When did this legal issue arise, and what specific actions have been taken so far?
It’s been one month. I’ve asked for the funds back verbally and also sent a demand letter with the intent to sue.

Is there anything else the lawyer should know before I connect you?
No.

Hello and welcome to AskaLawyer! I’m Dan, a legal expert. I’m reviewing your question and will respond again shortly. I know your situation is complicated. Is there any additional information you think might be helpful?
We’ve been contracted for three years. I have bank statements and invoices to show our relationship. Also, emails show that my partner asked for a bigger vehicle.

Okay, so I guess I have to play dirty then!
Dan
