Do I need to file a power of attorney anywhere?
It is recommended that you:
- Store the original securely.
- Keep the signed original POA in a safe but accessible location, such as a fireproof home safe or a secure file with your attorney.
- Avoid safety deposit boxes unless your agent will have access to them — otherwise, the POA might be locked away and unusable when needed.
- Provide copies to relevant parties.
Depending on the type of POA:- Financial POA: Give a copy to your named agent, your bank(s), investment firms, and any other financial institutions that will need to recognize it.
- Healthcare POA: Give a copy to your healthcare agent, doctors, and any hospital or clinic you regularly visit.
- General POA: Provide to anyone who will be relying on it (title company, insurance, etc.).
There is no requirement that you record this or file it.

Is there anything else the Lawyer should know before I connect you? Rest assured that they’ll be able to help you with your situation.
The power of attorney is for my mother.
